How it works
How trust becomes evidence.
A coach learns the principle, then has to handle the situation. What they actually do is what gets assessed, what gets certified, and what a parent can check.
The coach journey
Eight steps, roughly forty minutes.
Create a trust profile
Authenticate through DigiLocker, Aadhaar or mobile OTP. Name, date of birth, government ID, phone, email and photo. Identity is verified once, not asserted repeatedly.
Professional information
Sport, years coaching, current academy, independent or employed, age groups coached, languages spoken, city and any existing certifications.
The framing
Before anything is assessed, the coach is told plainly what this is: we assess professional judgement, not memory. Respond naturally, as you would in real life.
Micro learning
Each competency opens with a two to three minute module. It teaches the principle, deliberately not the answer. A coach who memorises the module still has to handle the situation.
Scenario assessment
A spoken scenario, answered by voice. No multiple choice. The coach says what they would actually say, in the language they actually coach in.
Evaluation
The response is transcribed and evaluated against the competency framework. The evaluation reads for judgement, not for wording. There is no phrase that unlocks a pass.
The loop
Where a competency is insufficient: back to a learning module, then a new scenario, then a new response. Repeated until sufficient evidence exists, or certification is deferred.
Certification
Issued only when every mandatory competency is marked demonstrated. No numeric grades, no percentages, no partial credit on child safety.

A thirteen-year-old asks a coach to keep a secret. There is no right sentence, but there is a right judgement, and the difference between the two responses is the difference between a coach who has thought about this and a coach who has not.
Both responses come from a caring coach. Only one of them is safe. That is precisely why memory-based testing cannot find it.

What gets read
Seven dimensions in every answer.
A single spoken response is evaluated across all seven. A coach can be deeply empathetic and still fail the reporting obligation, and that gap is exactly what a certificate should be able to find.
The framework
Six mandatory competencies.
Every one must be marked demonstrated. Any one marked not yet demonstrated defers certification.
Professional Boundaries
Holds the line between coaching and personal relationship.
Physical, emotional, verbal and digital boundaries. No private one-on-one spaces without visibility. No favouritism, secrecy, gifts or late-night messaging.
Child Safeguarding
Recognises risk before it becomes harm.
Supervision in changing rooms, travel and pickup. Grooming-like patterns, humiliation and excessive control recognised for what they are, not excused as coaching style.
Reporting & Escalation
Knows what to do in the first ten minutes.
Listens without investigating. Records facts, not conclusions. Escalates through the approved pathway and protects confidentiality rather than promising secrecy.
Communication
Corrects the skill, never the person.
Specific, actionable cues. No shame, body comments, sarcasm or comparison. Clear, honest communication with parents and clean boundaries around direct messaging.
Ethics
Acts the same when nobody is watching.
Fair selection. No promises of medals or places. No fear-based motivation. Bystander responsibility when another adult crosses a line.
Safe Coaching Practices
Trains bodies that are still growing.
Age-appropriate load, no-touch-first assistance, consent before contact, injury and fatigue response, and session readiness before athletes arrive.
How the signal is built
One certificate. Many judgements.
No single answer proves anything about a person. Certification is what remains when a pattern holds: across situations, across dimensions, across competencies and across time.
Scenario-based voice assessment is the mechanism that produces that pattern. The certificate is the consolidation of it.
Across situations
A competency is never granted on one answer. Fresh scenarios approach the same judgement from a different angle.
Across dimensions
Every spoken response is read on all seven dimensions at once, so warmth cannot cover for a missed reporting duty.
Across competencies
Six mandatory competencies. Strength in one never compensates for a gap in another.
Across time
Re-earned every six months against the current standard. A pattern that holds for years is the strongest signal there is.
Certification logic
Two outcomes. Nothing in between.
Numeric grades invite comparison and imply precision that a judgement assessment does not have. “Not yet demonstrated” is also the honest phrasing: it describes the evidence, not the person, and it points at a next step rather than a verdict.
Certification is valid for six months. Renewal is not a formality. It uses fresh scenarios written against the standard as it currently stands. A credential that cannot lapse is a credential nobody has to keep earning.
Every issue, renewal, suspension and revocation is logged, and every certificate records the version of the standard it was earned against.
Grounding
Assessed against published standards.
Axio does not invent its own definition of safe. Scenarios and evaluation criteria are grounded in law and in the safeguarding frameworks that already exist.
